Our Logo Helps Communicate
Our Church’s Purposes

At the center of our logo is the United Methodist Cross and Flame.
(see the bottom of this page for more on the Cross and Flame)

Surrounding the Cross and Flame is an unfinished circle.
The circle has four points.  These four points and the unfinished circle each represent
one of the five key purpose of our church.

Belong:  As Christians, we all Belong . . .
  • We belong to Christ,
  • We belong to each other,
  • We belong to the Common Mission of reaching the lost for Christ,
  • We Belong to a Community of Faith and share Fellowship with each other.

Grow:  We are all called to Grow in our Faith . . .
  • Through Prayer
  • Through personal and group Bible Study
  • Through involvement in Small Groups
  • Through developing "Holy Habits"
  • Through becoming generous and loving individuals
  • Through participation in Worship

Serve:  We are all called to Serve Christ and others in the Church . . .
  • By discovering our Spiritual Gifts, Talents, and Abilities.
  • By employing those gifts and talents for Christ in Volunteer Service in the Church
    and Community.
  • By taking an active part in supporting the ministries of others in the church.

Share:  We are all called to Share the grace and love that God has given to us . . .
  • By learning how to share our faith with others.
  • By learning how to make friends of un-churched and non-Christian people in our
    neighborhoods.
  • By inviting our non-Christian and un-churched friends, relatives, associates, and
neighbors to participate in the life of the church.
  • By introducing them to Christ at the appropriate time.

The Unfinished Circle is shaped as a letter "C" which stands for "Celebrate". . .
  • Bartlett Chapel is a community of Joy. Music, Laughter, and Celebration are vital
    parts of who we are.
  • We believe in an abundant life, and the "Joy of the Lord" is our strength.
  • We celebrate the life God gives us through worship, in our fellowship, in our small
groups, and in our service with one another.

The Unfinished Circle reminds us that our goal is to "Complete the Circle" . . .
  • By committing ourselves to all of these tasks,
  • By taking "Growth Classes" that help us to accomplish these tasks,
  • By recruiting others to begin the journey around the circle of growth for themselves.
  • We invite you to join us as we all strive to “Complete the Circle” of spiritual growth
    and ministry.
  • God has an adventure for you at Bartlett Chapel.  Come and start the journey . . .
    and bring a friend!

The "Cross and Flame" has been the official logo of the United Methodist Church
since its formation in 1968 by the merger of the Methodist Church and the Evangelical
United Brethren Church.

  • The Cross represents the centrality of our faith in Jesus Christ.
  • The Flame represents the Holy Spirit. It also reminds us that United Methodists are
a people of the "warm heart."

The flame consists of two parts, joined at the foot of the cross. The two parts represent
the two former denominations who merged to form the United Methodist Church:

  • The Methodist Church, formed in 1939 by the merger of the Methodist Episcopal
Church, the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and the Methodist Protestant
    Church.
  • The Evangelical United Brethren Church, formed in 1946 by merger of the
Evangelical Association and the United Brethren in Christ.

The Cross and Flame is a copyrighted logo of the United Methodist Church and is to be used
only by United Methodist Churches or official United Methodist agencies.
