WHEELER MISSION
Wheeler mission ministries lovingly demonstrates Christian
faith to the impoverished by providing for the basic physical
and emotional needs and by encouraging personal spiritual
growth. The mission provides food, shelter, clothing,
rehabilitation services and spiritual guidance to the homeless
in central Indiana. Their Life with a Purpose program includes
biblical instruction and guidance in life skills. It houses a
Medical and dental clinic and a computer-learning center that
includes literacy, GED programs, and vocational training.
BRIGHTWOOD MINISTRY
The Brightwood Community Center provides senior citizens
assistance with a Monday–Friday hot lunches, bus service,
and help during the holidays. It also provides youth tutoring,
an after school program, a day camp for neighborhood
children, a "Skills for Women" class, and a first offenders
program.
A clothing store and food pantry are also available.
FLETCHER PLACE
Breaking the cycle of poverty through the compassion of Jesus
Christ is the goal of Fletcher Place and Rev. Jessi Langlie,
Executive Director.
Local congregations provide meals for the hungry two days
each week, a thrift store provides clothing, and a pantry gives
a three-day supply of groceries to needy families.
Their Building the Ladder of Success Program includes
classes in job placement, computer skills and survival skills for
men, women and youth. Other programs work with preschool
and seniors. Support comes from individuals, families, local
congregations and businesses for this United Methodist
Mission.
Rev. Langlie is the daughter-in-law of Rev. S. V. (Tom) Stiles,
former pastor of Bartlett Chapel.
GIDEONS
The Gideons International, founded in 1899, serves as an
extended missionary arm of the church. Their primary function
is the placing and distributing of more than 63,000,000 Bibles
worldwide annually.
HENDERSON SETTLEMENT
The ministry of Henderson Settlement focuses on meeting
needs that free people to become everything that God intends
them to be.
RED BIRD MISSION
This mission is located in Beverly, KY, and serves as a witness
for Christ in the heart of Appalachia. The mission serves the
local area with health needs, a thrift store, a work camp,
preschool, and a K-12 school.
FITCH MISSIONARY
Colleen Fitch serves as the Director of Children’s and Family
Ministries at the Sicklerville, NJ United Methodist Church. She
is now the Director of Discipleship Resources for OMS. She
developed a children’s Sunday worship program called WOW.
It includes a drama and Bible lesson. Colleen has three
daughters: Emily, Mary, and Katherine.
EAST 10TH STREET UMC CHILDREN & YOUTH CENTER
The East 10th Street UMC is a large structure with an average
weekly church attendance of about 35, which serves as a base
for this tremendous children and youth program.
At East 10th Street, children are the light of our lives. We are
thrilled to be celebrating our 11th year anniversary as a non-
profit organization serving the children on the near Eastside of
downtown Indianapolis. We believe that all children deserve
quality care no matter if their partents can afford to pay or not,
and with your help we will continue to care for children and
families who need our services.
It has been said that children are our future, but at East 10th
Street we believe that children are the present. It is our mission
to help the children of the near Eastside bloom to their full
potential.

VIDA NUEVA
Vida Nueva means “New Life” and refers to the new life we
receive through Christ. Its main goal is to create bridges of
understanding between families of Hispanic and Anglo
backgrounds.
Worship services are both in English and Spanish. They also
have an emergency service for food and clothing, a Christmas
party for needy families, and a jail ministry where Hispanic
literature, Christian videos, bible study and counseling are
provided to seventy inmates each week.
The pastor, David Penalva and his wife Stacey, have three
sons, David, Jr., Andrew and Zachary.
GOOD WORKS
Led by Keith Wasserman, Good Works is located in Athens,
ohio, and serves a growing number of people struggling with
poverty and homelessness in southeastern Ohio. Initially
started by Keith & Darlene (his wife) in their basement, the
mission facilities now also provides job training and other career
development opportunities.

MISSION AVIATION FELLOWSHIP
John and Nancy Hook are missionaries serving at the
headquarters Idaho. MAF is a worldwide network of missionary
pilots and aircraft trained to fly into the most remote areas.
John’s current responsibilities include working with newly
appointed pilots to prepare them for flying in the rigorous and
hostile environments overseas.

FOUR CORNERS
The Four Corners Native American Ministry, operated by Paul &
Dorcas West, is located in Shiprock, New Mexico and covers a
four-state area. This ministry trains Navajo pastors and works to
plant new churches.
In order to reach out to the Navajo society, the Ministry has built
two thrift shops, “The Home for Women,” a new Day Care
school, and a place for alcoholic counseling.
FAITH IN COMMUNITY
UMC MILITARY PHONE CARDS
This mission provides phone cards to military personnel
stationed in war zones so that they can more easily contact their
families at home.
UMCOR
The United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) acts swiftly
and in the spirit of Jesus to help those in need. In emergencies,
they provide leadership and volunteers who work with local
Methodist churches provide all types of aid.
Through the World Hunger/Poverty Program, UMCOR not only
supplies food for the hungry but also provides tools, seeds and
training that enable people to grow their own food.
