FOCUS ON MINISTRY CAMPAIGN - THROUGH OCT 17th
The Focus on Ministry campaign runs now through Oct. 17. In this
campaign, the Finance Team is asking you, the congregation of Bartlett
Chapel and servants of Jesus Christ, to prayerfully consider a contribution
toward paying off the church’s debt. This important financial step would
allow our congregation the freedom to look at the next phase in the life of
our church’s ministry, which continues to be bringing people to Christ and
growing them in their relationship with Christ.

If you missed our team’s presentations on Sunday, Aug. 15, and Sunday,
Aug. 22, you can
download it here.

We hope you will join us in prayer for the Lord’s direction and guidance in
this important matter.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of the Finance Team
if you have any questions.  Yours in Christ,

John Munn, Finance Team Chair                     Phone: 745-2880

local hospital who need extra encouragement will be Sunday, Sept. 12.

teddy bear that you can send with love and prayers to a patient!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD - NOV 14 - 22
In a few short months you as a congregation at Bartlett Chapel will be
engaged in Operation Christmas Child, the Shoe Box Ministry that brings
gifts and the word of God to millions of children throughout the world.

For those of you that are new to our church, we have been participating in
Operation Christmas Child for over ten years. In the coming weeks you will
hear more about the program and what you can do as an individual, family,
Sunday school classes, your work place, neighborhood, etc. Taking a
shoe box and filling it with items can be fun. Take a child with you to shop.
Who knows better what a child will like than another child! Also, it gives you
an opportunity to teach them about sharing and understanding the needs
of less fortunate children of the world.

5TH QUARTER YOUTH PROGRAM
We set a new record attendance for 5th Quarter on August 20th! Sixty-one
students from Avon and Danville were here at Bartlett Chapel to hang out,
eat, and play games with each other.  We had Rock Band up on the
projector screen, board games, card games, and tables set up for foosbal
l , ping pong, and air hockey...besides that, we also played the biggest
game of Underground Church either Sean or I have ever played! If you
weren’t here, you missed a pretty cool night… but don’t worry! The next 5th
Quarter will be at Avon UMC on September 3rd and we have another one
here at Bartlett Chapel on September 24.

5th Quarter is a joint effort between Bartlett Chapel and Avon UMC. We
alternate which church it is at and invite our students to both. The purpose
of 5th Quarter is to give students here a chance to bring their friends to
church in an environment that is fun, exciting, and not threatening (also,
kind of a side benefit is to give them something clean and fun to do after
the football games).

OPEN HEART SOUTHERN GOSPEL GROUP - SEPT 26
Special Musical Guest Open Heart, a Southern Gospel group led by Wayne
Maynard of the Kingsmen will be at Bartlett Chapel for the evening service
on Sunday, September 26. The band all feels that this is truly their ministry
and so there will not be a charge at the door. They will take up a freewill
offering to help cover their travel and equipment expenses.

UMW ASKING FOR YOUR HELP!  SEPT 12
United Methodist Women Asking for Your Help For the District Meeting on
September 12, The United Methodist Women are collecting clean socks
and underwear for men, women and children and feminine hygiene
products.

The UMW is also collecting dry milk for the Kissie Clinic in Sierra Leon, an
area so distraught with malnourishment that children are not even given a
name until they are five years old because of the high rate of mortality.

Women interested in being a part of the District meeting at Saint Luke’s on
September 25th need to register. Registration is $7 and is due by
September 12th.

DODGE BALL TOURNAMENT FOR YOUTH - SEPT 12
Do you like to throw things?  Do you want to make a difference in the
world? Then I’ve got news for you! Bartlett Chapel, along with Mooresville
UMC, Avon UMC and Plainfield UMC is going to be a part of a dodgeball
tournament to support our local homeless ministries.

If you don’t like to play dodgeball , we’ll have a game area set up also so
you can still join in the fun of and excitement without partaking in the
tournament.

Teams will be 5-6 players (one will take turns sitting out if a team of 6
plays a team of 5) and we’ll have two games going at a time.  So if you
aren’t playing, you can sit out, cheer on another team, get some snacks, or
take part in another game and meet some new people from the other
churches! If you lose a game, no worries! The tournament is based off a
Swedish tournament style in which no one is actually eliminated, but
continues to try to get the best record!

Please bring $3 to enter the tournament. The money collected will go to the
winning teams’ homeless ministry

CINDE LUCAS RETREAT - NOV 13
Mark your calendars!  On November 13, Cinde and husband Rick will be
conducting a women’s and men’s retreat here at Bartlett Chapel.

There will be wonderful music, a powerful message, fellowship, and of
course food! Cinde was here last year and a wonderful time was had by all.
Pastor Don will be turning over the preaching the following day to Cinde at
both services as well.  So come and be prepared for a godly encounter!
Tell your family and friends! The more the merrier!  For younger families,
we will be looking to provide childcare. Further details will be coming soon!
