WINGS OF THE MORNING - AFRICA ($1,000) Wings of the Morning, a flight ministry operating since the 1960’s, is the only means for critically ill people in isolated areas to reach medical facilities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. These isolated areas are usually inaccessible by land.
Wings of the Morning:
Provides emergency medical flights for underprivileged and critically ill village people in isolated areas.
Provides transportation for evangelists, pastors, work teams, church leaders, Annual Conferences, and executive committees.
Transports doctors, nurses, and medicines along the Congo River for the cholera epidemic which happens each year between December and February.
Provides transportation home for patients after medical treatment.
Assists other Christian denominations in their transportation needs.
Gaston Ntambo is an airplane mechanic and his wife Jeanne is a radio operator working in the Wings of the Morning flight ministry. For several years Gaston has been the only pilot/mechanic and emergency contact in a region of some eight million people that has no good roads. Jeanne also serves as hostess for the mission guest house for those being flown to the city for medical treatment and for visiting pastors. They have four children; Andy, Lorrie, Gabriel and Noah.
NOTHING BUT NETS - AFRICA ($1,400) Nothing But Nets is a global, grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. Sports Illustrated columnist Rick Reilly challenged his readers to donate $10 for the purchase of an anti-malaria bed net, and thousands of people have joined the campaign. The people of The United Methodist Church, along with Sports Illustrated, NBA Cares, the United Nations Foundation and several other groups, are raising funds to purchase bed nets to end malaria. You can join the cause and contribute money for bed nets that will keep children and families safe.
AFRICA UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS ($900) Africa University is located 17 km outside Mutare, Zimbabwe's third largest city. It is a private, Pan-African and United Methodist-Related institution. Africa University is a private institution related to the United Methodist Church worldwide. Its guiding vision, campus community, management/leadership and mission are international in character. Twenty-two (22) African countries are represented amongst the amongst the University's current enrolment.
Africa University currently offers Bachelors and Masters degree programmes in six Faculties - Agriculture and Natural Resources, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Management and Administration and Theology. The Institute of Peace, Leadership and Governance offers postgraduate Diploma and Masters programmes. The medium of training is English Language. Africa University's academic year begins in August and it is divided into two semesters.
FRED & BELL CARRESS MISSIONARIES - PHILIPPINES ($900) Fred and Bell currently manage the 64 bed dormitory that houses Asian nationals who are taking training in bible translation at the Northern Translation Center at Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. Bell also is in charge of Bagabag Center Housing. She is responsible for preparing homes for missionaries returning from village assignments, those coming for workshops, short term visitors, and new missionaries arriving for assignments. Fred also works on wireless communication maintenance keeping satphones, two-way radios, avionics equipment, and the radio antennas in good repair. They have a son, Paul.
Wycliffe was founded in 1942 by William Cameron Townsend. A missionary to the Cakchiquel Indians of Guatemala, Townsend caught the vision for translation when Cakchiquel-speaking men expressed their concern that the Bible was not available to them in the language they understood clearly. As a result, Townsend resolved that every man, woman and child should be able to read God’s Word in their own language.
Since its inception, Wycliffe has made great progress in Bible translation all around the world. To date, we have played a part in the translation of Bibles or New Testaments in 740 languages, representing more than 82 million people.

TOM & SUSAN STILES MISSIONARIES - ECUADOR ($1,000) Tom and Susan Stiles are a missionary team in Cuenca, Ecuador, where they both teach at the Cuenca Biblical Seminary and at the Sinai Bible Institute in Carboncillo. They continue to visit Saragro two or three times a month to support the Indian churches that they helped establish there. Tom is the son a former Bartlett pastor, S.V. Stiles.
JOY IN THE HARVEST - ZAIRE ($900) Joy in the Harvest International is a Faith Ministry on a God Directed path to a lost and dying world bringing Hope and Love through Jesus Christ.
Lowell & Claudia Wertz are serving in Zaire. Claudia started a woman’ s center and Lowell is a radio technician, pilot, printer, and pioneered using the “Jesus” movie to do village evangelism. They have a daughter, Kimberly and a son, Luke.
UNITED METHODIST MILITARY PHONE CARDS ($1,000) This mission provides phone cards to military personnel stationed in war zones so that they can more easily contact their families at home.
DAVID & CAROL COSBY MISSIONARIES - VENEZUELA ($900) David & Carol Cosby live in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, where they helped establish the Wesleyan Seminary of Venezuela, and where David now serves as Academic Dean. The seminary has around 75 students. David also is the Director of the Great Commission Church Planting Institute which has about 40 students in two different locations - Barquisimeto and Puerto Ordaz. Carol serves in ministry to pastors' wives and missionary families, as hostess to visiting professors, and as Treasurer of both institutions.
They have two children: daughter Sharyn teaches at a middle school in Georgia, and son Blair who just finished college.
COLLEEN FITCH Colleen is a part of the OMS International Ministries Department. Her responsibilities include seeking and providing resources for theological education programs for OMS worldwide. She travels to various countries for the purpose of equipping, training, and encouraging pastors and church workers in their areas of ministry. In addition, Colleen assists in the development and training of new missionaries.
Colleen has three daughters: Emily, Mary, and Katherine.
